The Process:
- • All books sent are given a spotlight post. Books Steve or I intend to review will be highlighted as a new arrival. Some books arrive unsolicited. If it’s a book we do not wish to review, it’s offered in a promotional giveaway. If the book is reviewed, there will be another post and possibly a giveaway.
- • Books are not reviewed in the order they arrive. One reason has to do with the top commenting viewer of the week gets to select a book. Click here for more information. Another is I am a seriously moody reader. There are times I get a wild hair and all the rules go out the door until I have my fill of a particular genre or a title I've been lusting after finally arrives. I am a supporter of the library and a consumer of books. Review books are only a portion of what is listed here.
- • If you’ll notice, rarely are negative reviews posted here. The reason is our time isn’t wasted on books we don’t like. Steve is more tolerant, but I give a book twenty-five pages to interest me. If the book doesn’t work for either one of us, it’s offered as a giveaway. That’s the best we can offer.
- • I am a book blogger with a big mouth, not a professional book reviewer. I post my opinions here as well as on Amazon.com, Twitter, and Facebook. I also have RSS feeds going to a few Ning groups. Books I like are add to GetGlue.com.
- • I accept eBooks, but conditionally. I will need your permission to have a giveaway when I post your book's review. This is nonnegotiable.
The Don’ts:
- • Don’t ask me to host a book tour. Yes, I have in the past, but I have stopped those completely.
- • Don’t ask me to promote your book unless you are willing to send a review copy.
- • Whatever you do, don't (and I mean DO NOT) send me a reminder email in hopes your book will be reviewed sooner. I don't take kindly to being rushed for a review. Puts a negative slant on your book that I can't shake. If you are stressing over the fact you have a book below that keeps getting knocked to the bottom of the list, send me your book trailer, a guest post, interview - something and I'll gladly get it published on J. Kaye's Book Blog.
- • Do not ask me to do an interview. Interviews are usually saved for a monthly meme I participate in called Literary Locals. If you are an author and live in Louisiana, then we do need to talk.
- • If you want to do a giveaway, just say so and send me your book. Don’t start making deals and telling me how “we can save money” if you were to ship it to the winner.
