Steve’s Thoughts
“Keeper of Light and Dust” by Natasha Mostert is a well-written and well-researched psychological thriller. It is Oriental mysticism explained with western science in an action packed book with martial arts fighting as a theme. Mia Lockert, tattooist, martial artist, and descendant of a long line of Keepers meets Adrian Ashton, a brilliant scientist who solved the secret of eternal life – by taking life force. After 5 unexplained deaths of martial art fighters, Nick, Mia’s childhood friend, uncovers the true Adrian. And it’s up to Mia to save them all.
Tattoos, quantum physics, chi, Reiki, Fa gung, Dim-Mak, biophotonics, kickboxing, Zero Point field, dojo, fight training, remote-viewing, are some of the various subjects Mostert interweaves in her story. I stopped at various parts in the book and googled some of the subjects. Wow! Tai chi Sci-fi.
“Keeper of Light and Dust” is a great read. However, the background is martial arts and fighting – not blood and guts, but the struggles and psychological aspect, so this might not be everyone’s cup of tea. It is descriptive, very plausible, and well-paced with the action building up to the end. If you are one of those interested in any of the subjects above, this could be well worth reading. It is one of those I like, a fiction that sounds true and you learn something also!
My rating is here.

I'm not sure this is a book I'd enjoy, but I like the idea of looking beyond the physical aspect of martial arts.
Sounds intriguing. I have seen this book but this is the first review I have read.
Nice job Steve
I've read good things about this book, but I don't think it's for me.
I really loved this book. It is one of the best I've read this year. Here's my review: http://www.savvyverseandwit.com/2009/04/keeper-of-light-and-dust-by-natasha.html
I will add a link to your review.
I had this as one of my "Waiting on Wednesday" posts a while ago, and I'm still intrigued by it. Glad to see Steve liked it!
Interesting... I have not read this type of book before but I always stay open to new possibilities... you never know when you are going to find "the book" that holds on to a piece of you forever.
Interesting! I'm not sure it's for me, but very cool to know it's out there! Thanks for the review!
Hey everyone, this was actually a book I had tagged for myself until I started reading reviews about the book. It had Steve written all over it...lol!
I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't enjoy this one - but thanks for the review!
I really like Natasha Mostert's books. I hosted a "mini-tour" of this book for her when the book came out. I liked the martial arts aspect, too. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Steve!
