Newcomers might not know who Harriet Klausner is. I don’t know her personally, but I am familiar with her book reviews on Amazon. For those who have never heard of her, google her name. She’s even got a Wikipedia page. No lie.
Although I don’t get into the political aspects of Harriet Klausner, I’d have to living in a cave not to know a little bit about the Klausner Protection Squad and the Harriet haters who gather on Amazon. I try to avoid the argumentative sides and here’s why. I don’t do well in group settings. I could never be a good follower because I am too much a rebel. Since I have a tendency to go psycho on people, I could never be a good leader. So I am neither and I am happy with that.
Even though I try to avoid such confrontations, the venomous creatures will crawl out of Hell to try and drag my big, fat butt in. I’m here to say, bite me. A simple act of liking a Harriet Klausner’s review will spur statements like this.
J. Myrna says:
I REALLY hope that she's being sarcastic. But I really, really doubt it. Why?
I looked through FIFTEEN PAGES of reviews for this person, and of those 15 PAGES, there were ELEVEN reviews that were less than 4 stars. And of those, I think only 2 were 2 star reviews.
You know, the average person does NOT find golden books whenever they read. The average person will find that most of what they read isn't very good, with a small portion being great. How do you spot a shill? They LOVE IT ALL! My guess is that those 2 star book publishers must not have paid very well.
Yes, the “this person” she was referring to is me. And the reason I was party to such a comment was because I said this about Harriet Klausner’s review. “Thanks! This really helped make my decision on whether or not I wanted to read it. :)” I was referring to a book.
I’m not sure why I can’t comment positively on HK’s reviews on Amazon without getting slapped down, but that is just the way it is. And like the loner I am, I will keep doing exactly what I am doing. I’ve studied HK’s reviews in order to improve on my own. If people don’t like it, well, viewers who know me also know how much I seriously care. So why even post this? There are two reasons.
So much about book reviewing and blogging goes on behind the scenes. Posts like this will help new book bloggers to know there doesn’t have to be a side. I don’t have to be pro or against anything. I can just be.
The other reason has to do with J. Myrna’s comment about my comment. Are reviewers getting paid for doing this? And if so, would someone send me the link or hook me up? Like an idiot, I’ve been doing this for free.
Note: I'd like to thank the viewer who sent this link in. Without it, this post would never have existed. You can view this entire thread here.

Don'tcha just love the internet?! What a jerk. I must be easy to please because I read a lot of books I'd give 4 stars. I'd love to know when I'm getting a check for all those reviews I've done too.
I'm always surprised by the venom of the HK commenters. Amazon is Crazytown. I stay out of that neighbourhood.

"Amazon is Crazytown. I stay out of that neighbourhood."
I didn't learn about that until a couple or so months ago. That's when I stopped visiting the discussion groups. Way too much negative intake for my state of being.
This is what bothers me the most about Amazon. 80% of the people who comment on others reviews are jerks. They just cannot handle a review which they do not agree with. And referring to you reviews, why can't people understand that "this person" might want to post only positive reviews?
I post on Powells and Barnes and Noble too, but only when the reviews are good. Don't worry J.Kaye. There will always be jerks.
Guess I'll continue to avoid discussion groups.
Funny, I can count on one hand the amount of books I've read that I didn't like - guess I must be easy, too.

While I don't always agree with her reviews I'm amazed at how many she writes! I do notice that most of them are 4 and 5 star reviews (mostly 5). I've agreed and disagreed with her so I don't always take her word. But that's how it is with any reviewer, right? Unless I find someone who aligns 100% with my thoughts on most books, I take reviews with a grain of salt.
One of my favorite quotes:
No two people read the same book.
Great post, J. Kaye!
PS WHO has time to get involved in those discussion groups on Amazon?!! Not me.
Also, in my first comment I was referring to H.K.
I want some of that mythical income too! Don't leave me out.
And as for the rest: ARGHHHHHH. I'm with you, I just try to stay out and be myself. I have never posted a review on Amazon -- one less place to worry about.
Good post indeed.
The Klausner phenomenon is a strange one. All the agents, book publishers and authors rush to get their books reviewed by Harriet, which tells you something about her clout.
Wow! I have one thing to say to that venomous woman...get a life! Right?
I've never heard of Harriet, but I can't believe how J. Myra beat you up over a simple comment. Can you imagine going through life with that much anger and bitterness? No thanks.
I knew there was a reason I hadn't posted any reviews at amazon - now I know!
Sue
P.S. Besides the obvious evil intent, I also disagree with her rationale. I like 90% of the books I read because I choose them carefully, based on knowing what I like and reading other reviews.
Good old Harriet Klausner. Churns them out like cookies in a cookie factory. She writes well, though. Maybe like me, she only reviews books she likes, so the reviews seem one sided.
If I don't like a book, I don't finish it and it gets no reviews (that is, unless I've promised author/publisher to review it, in which case it might get a rave or a bland review.) I try not to go all out and blast a book, being an aspiring writer myself :)
The last time I read a review at Amazon the reviewer just about re told the entire story, complete with whose baby was conceived where and how one of the main characters ended up. Not much sense in anyone buying the book after that as there is nothing left for the reader to discover.
The HK review in question has spoilers as far as I am concerned. I think I read somewhere that Harriet speed reads 2 books a day.
That sniping by J. Myra is so totally childish and rude, I wouldn't even pay attention to anyone like that.
Wow, that is really mean! I steer well clear of everyone on Amazon. I post my reviews there but ignore whether anyone leaves comments or thinks I'm helpful. Too much negativity for me, I'm sorry you were hit with it.
violetcrush ~ Don't get me wrong. I am a fan of Amazon, but there is that other side...jerks is a good label for what trolls there.
L. Diane Wolfe ~ I know! I usually stop reading. Life is too short for books I don't like. That said, I am reading one that I don't care too much for. I purchased it...lol! Feel like I am wasting money if I don't read it. ;)
Mary ~ We (book bloggers) agree and disagree with each other on opinions of books. No way could I ever see another book blogger do what this lady did. No way!
Beth F ~ Don't you worry. If I get hooked up, you are the first person I'm emailing.
Book Bird Dog & Scobberlotcher ~ Yeah, well, strange or not, whoever is behind the HK phenomena, I am thrilled for the reviews. It benefits me and well, that's all that matters really. I am selfish that way. ;)
Sue Jackson ~ Sadly, I think this is her life. And it is scary to think what she's like in person.
Kaye ~ Thanks for you input!
Meghan ~ I think you and I are doing the same thing. I have too many things to focus on and blogging keeps me hopping! (lol)
Nice. Isn't amazing how "honest" (ahem, read: mean) people are on the 'net with a keyboard and monitor making them oh so cool.
Honestly, most of the books I have read have been a 3 or better. Maybe I just pick lucky or I am just good like that! LOL.
I am also not one to post negative reviews. I know that for an author, their book is their baby. I really, really don't want to rain on their parade because it didn't appeal to me, personally. Maybe it's the old adage still sticking around, if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all!
People are just jerks, J Kaye but there is a larger community that isn't (US!!, your followers)
There has been flap about HK for many years! There are those out there who don't even think she is a real person. I don't know or care, and I don't see why she should bother people so much. Unless, like me, they're jealous of how much reading she is able to get done! :-)
As far as J. Myrna, I totally disagree with her (his?) comment about the average person finding most of what s/he reads not very good. J. Myrna is either a book snob or doesn't know her own tastes very well. A little soul-searching might be needed in either case. And possibly a couple of anger management classes. :-)
Lezlie
woah. Had I known Amazon was filled with cut throat cannibalistic jugular eating artery drinking vicious fiends (wow I'm creative) I wouldn't have joined. I'm praying Amazon.ca is different from amazon.com.
However. I realize this though. There are parts of the book reading community that consist of small brained yet uppity elitist snobs that think they're holier than thou and think their reviews resemble Roger Ebert and their word is law.
They got another thing comin to them. Don't you worry J Kaye I don't have an arsenal of weapons for nothing on the online world ;) (and a deadly army of kitties! you can't go wrong with that)
Seriously though, I avoid book forums because of that I hate their mindless drivel and makes me want to throw a molotov at them for thinking they're better because they think reviewing must be done a certain way. Blah. Go away stupidheads! we don't need people like those!
However I'm a sh!tstarter. One time on a fantasy forum I said I hated this book that "everybody" worshipped. I immediately got ostracized for that. It was fun to see them ruffle their pretty feathers. Muahahah. Never been back since. The community doesn't need neanderthals like those.
Good Morning J.Kaye:
There is almost a "mythology" surrounding Harriet over Amazon that boggles the mind. Some say she speed reads, some say she has a staff, and so on and so on.
Regardless, as you indicated it is a hornet's nest with respect to "Harriet", over there. I found out, the hard way, that treading forums over at Amazon is like "walking on eggshells". I have to concur with Chris, it's "Crazytown" so I don't go near the discussion groups anymore, don't need it, nor do I have the time.
As for reviews, I only review books I really like so all of mine posted at Amazon are 4 or 5 stars so I guess I can be considered a "shill" as well. And, I've got to tell you, if someone is paying me, the cheques are lost in the mail! lol
So, back to your point, I think the bottom line is, we do our best with book reviews and try to learn from each other. If you find Harriet's helpful then GFI!...
Best
L
This is why I hate to leave comments sometimes. I left a comment once and I got chewed out because I was defending the person who I thought had a good review but obviously other people didn't think so. This is why I am really weary about leaving comments, and if I do they are short and to the point so that I don't have to listen to other's childish responses.. It is sad you can't say what you want without starting a huge debate over what YOU think!..
Sorry this happened to you, and good for you for leaving your comments anyway, people are just haters! :)
Oh happy day! lol
Ugh, so sorry about that, J. Kaye! I went through and read the whole thread and it just made me so mad. I write reviews on occasion in Amazon, but there's just too much negativity there overall that I don't really care for the environment. It's amazing the way people react when they don't agree with you--they think you're an idiot or something!
All that said, you keep up the good work!! I enjoy your reviews :-)
Wait, we're getting paid for this! I'm calling the post office, my mailman has been stealing my checks!
All kidding aside. I post reviews on Amazon, but never go back to see if anyone left comments. My opinions are my own.
I also am very picky about what I read so I rarely have a negative review.
First of all I never read reviews over at amazon. I only read reviews on blogs which I trust. And trust is a result of experience. And as a member of Goodreads I read reviews and comments from people I know and which share my taste. Therefore I don't have any problems to find books I like.
In the end you have the free choice which reviews your read. And it is your decision whether you trust a review or not.
There are a lot of quality book blogs available and you can easily manage them with Google Reader.
Visit blogs and add comments and don't forget to read books.
Enjoy reading....
o.o I get easily angered too. I was reading their comments and all I could think of was 'wow people. do some research.' but whatever. eejits stay eejits when they have people to bolster them.
and I always thought Harriet Klausner wasn't a real person. or at least not one real person. I thought she was a group of folks (maybe because I can't believe someone can read more then I do, and I read 14 books a month on average...).
It is so hard to not pay attention to jerks. They seem to demand attention.
I'm like you in that I give a lot of books 4-5 stars. Overnight I gave a book 3 stars, which is rarity for me.
Know that we all love your reviews, and that is what counts :)
Paid? We can get paid for doing this? Gosh, I missed the orientation class on that one!
I've never heard of Harriet Klausner until this post. Interesting. I post my reviews on Amazon but I don't comment on any others. I've had a couple of somewhat negative comments on my Amazon reviews and I wondered why they even bothered. I haven't responded.
I give mostly 3 stars, which means I liked the book, 4 if I really liked it. I rarely give 5 stars. I wonder what that says about me?!
And honestly, consider the source: check out J. Myrna's profile and her website. She has a self-proclaimed, high opinion of herself, and a rather narrow focus on her book reviews.
I don't think I've ever run into this person or her reviews. Of course, I barely use Amazon at all, other than searching specific books by title.
I think I'll try to keep it that way too. I don't need that kind of response, and I tend to rate books high too, simply by reading the books I like.
Well, I am certainly not going to send any reviews to Amazon!
The thread says quite a lot about the people who were after you and H. Klausner, though. You meet all kinds on the internet.
It was just like the online writing course I participated in recently. Some people had no idea how to criticise a text in a decent way, and if you did not agree when they attacked you, they would grow really personal.
If J. Myrna finds that "Most of what" she reads "isn't very good" then why the heck doesn't she just quit? I would have stopped reading a long time ago if I didn't like most of the books I read. She must not be very bright if she hasn't figured that out by now. :D
I don't read HK's reviews because they usually have spoilers and she does rate high. I find I get the best info by reading the four star reviews and 2 star reviews. They seem the most honest. I was just thinking last night about my personal rating system. I don't give out many fives, I save those for truly special books.
Those discussion threads on Amazon are a bit hostile, I agree.
Jaime said "Maybe it's the old adage still sticking around, if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all!"
Amen!
Lezlie ~ After I talked to Steve about this, it made me wonder what kind of person acts like this...so much hatred. Anger management classes or some other professional help would be good...maybe even medication...lol!
okbolover ~ I am all for bringing on those deadly army of kitties! And no, you can't ever go wrong with that...rotfl!
Lea ~ Love the GFI mentality!
trishalynn0708 ~ I am still gonna be leaving comments. This nut bag and others like her will never stop me from doing what I do. When I stop, it will be because I've grown bored and moved on. Not until then. ;)
Melissa ~ There is too much. That's why I stopped watching the news. Steve gives me the highlights if it's the economy, but I can pretty much figure it out without those...lol!
Bella Foxx ~ I know! I think that book bloggers are getting screwed. Authors and publishers know we are addicted to books. All they gotta do is wave one around and we'll do it all for free. And sadly, we aren't going to change. Okay, that might not be sadly to us....we all seem to like it just fine. :) LOL!
ediFanoB ~ Thanks for giving others an alternative!
Lexie ~ You know, maybe, just maybe people like this use the Amazon discussion forums like a bully who goes around kicking a dog. If it were face to face, I wonder if that mouth would go off as much.
Bella ~ Wish you were here. I'd give you a big hug!
Holly ~ Wow! I am so glad to be the one to bring you HK. I have been a fan of hers (or them) ever since I began reviewing.
Elena ~ I love Amazon. Since all the bookstores closed here, that's where I get my books.
Dorte H ~ I agree...the HK bashing doesn't make them look good.
Icedream ~ OMG! I never thought about it that way. Too funny and you are dead on!
bookmagic ~ Maybe that's why I seek HK's reviews out when making a decision on whether or not to get a book. I have too many books to read. Maybe if I didn't, I would feel more like you. I need more info to help decide if that makes sense, but I get where you are coming from though.
J.Kaye, I'm not sure if this helps you or anyone else, but I really like the Goodreads reviews. I find them a bit more honest and helpful than Amazon :)
I totally understand about having too many books, most days I don't even know which book to pick next. I wish my TBR pile was a bit more controlled. Damn my book buying habits!
Bella ~ I think it will for sure help others. I had an account there, at Shelfari, and LibraryThing. I lost interest over time. I was becoming more and more obsessed with blogging...lol.
Whaaaaat? I wonder is J. Myrna realizes just how irrational and wrong he/she is being. In any case, how rude! I guess it's very satisfying to be rude to someone over the internet. He/she is so determined that they know you and your motives, which is the ultimate of ignorance right there.
Here's a dirty little secret: I only ever post positive reviews to amazon now. Negative reviews either get rejected or people mark them as unhelpful. So apparently it looks like I'm shilling? Some people, sheesh!
Oh..and I don't exactly trust HK's reviews because for a few books that I had read that she reviewed, she got main details WRONG - like she hadn't even really read the book. It seemed to me (and others) like she might have been "faking" some of her reviews, or farming them out to dimwits.
I simply don't understand why people don't get that we live in a 'free' speech society and why anyone should be slammed for their opinions.
Also why on earth read books you don't like. You can't be a very intelligent person to read an entire book you hated, why would anyone waste their life do that!
We love you reviews J. Kaye and value your opinion as a reviewer, we also no that you're not stupid enough to read a book you're not enjoying.
I personally stay right away from Amazon reviews, to many nasty people for my liking!
But you keep up the good fight, somebody's got to do it!
I went over there and read the thread and now I'm scratching my head.
First, I can't believe your comment was so misinterpreted. And second, I can't believe that everyone who commented after her just followed along blindly without even thinking it through.
I've never visited the discussion groups...just read the occasional review, but I think I'll stay away from them. It would just raise my blood pressure and I don't need that.
Oh, I forgot. I went to J. Myrna's Amazon page and someone should tell her to put some clothes on!
Wow. The internet is great in many ways. I enjoy being connected with lots of people. But then there are the people who I really wish I hadn't connected with. What is the point in being hateful? Does it make anyone feel better??
Anyhoo, I only post my reviews on my blog and Goodreads. I do it for my pleasure alone. If someone decides to read or not read a book because of my review, great. If someone responds that they liked or disliked a book despite what I have written, super. I just like to talk and get people talking.
But hey, if someone wants to pay me for my random meanderings in reading, I am all for it. Find me that publisher, J. Kaye!
I don't normally go to Amazon for book reviews because I don't always find them very informative. But I have thought about putting my reviews on Amazon.com but now I don't know.
They seems pretty harsh and vindictive. I don't know if that is something that I will want to deal with.
Mee-Yow! What crawled up her rumpus and died?
Ok. I just reread the thread. Seems to me J Myrna is a control freak. She wants to be right, all else who do not agree with her are all inherently moronic, substandard, in the "circle" or whatever. What a psycho. She is still trolling the board. She needs a life, a man, a good book, something...
That is insane. And she kept going after that comment. I have to say she kinda ticked me off, and I found myself wanting to say something nasty to her but I hold my tounge for now, as to not disrupt the people that actually go there for reviews. Grrr... Now I have a legitimate reason to stay away from there.
Don't bother with that person J Kaye, she is a real wench. I know why you review the way you do and frankly if she looked at any of my reviews I guess she would say the same thing because almost all of my reviews are 4 or 5 starred. Of course I only use stars on librarything....but still.
I had never heard of Harriet before reading this. Like you I read very few books that I don't personally pick because it is a genre I like or came so highly recommended to me. Most of my ratings are in the 4 to 5 range. If I don't like a book I say I didn't like it. Ignore ignorant people like this idiot. We who know you through your blog love you. It is because of blogs like yours that I have found new authors and books to recommend to my students. Thanks and hats off to you. Keep it up.
We get paid to review??? I didn't know this :) I've heard the complaints about Harriet for years. Some of her reviews I agree with, some I don't. Is that so strange?
I don't agree that most of us don't like what we read. If we didn't, why would we keep reading? Most of what I read I enjoy and post reviews of.
Personally, I think everyone should write what they want and people shouldn't be so judgmental.
Keep doing what you're doing J. Kaye, as I love your reviews! While I do post my reviews on Amazon, I've never gone back to check for comments, nor do I join in the discussion groups. I prefer visiting blogs for discussions and review comments.
I've heard of Harriet Klausner and can't understand why she generates so much hatred. Either she's a woman who loves books and is a speedreader, or she's a fraud. Either way, what does it matter? Either read her reviews or don't. No need to say hateful things about her or people who like her reviews.
And by the way, if you find out who is sending out those checks, please let me know! *L*
Hi JKaye- I think it is clear that YOU have plenty of support! Those comments were rude and unnecessary IMO. Since you stop reading a book you don't like I'm guessing you might not have too many low reviews! But I'm with you - I have very few below average reviews! I'm not familiar with HK and looks like I don't need to go hunt down her reivews! And I sure agree too - wish we could find somebody who would pay us for doing reviews! Its a good thing we just love books!
Oh J.Kaye, I actually had to take down one of my comments when I first started blogging and I put something down on one of her reviews on Amazon. I honestly knew she couldn't have read the book. To this day I get people that still follow every single review I do and as soon as it gets posted they put that it's NOT helpful! Just childish if you ask me! So now, I stay out of it! I just have too...
UGH! You so don't deserve this either!
xoxo Amy (Park-Avenue Princess)
People are stupid - ignore the ignoramous who does not know what she posts of. I would recommend she take her comments else where - but I couldn't leave one.
Just ignore it.
I was just saying on my latest review how blessed I was to read so many 5 star books lately. If that amounts to a shill, well I say bring on the 'SHILLS' or is it shillers, hopefully there are so many of us, we'll knock the other drongoes out of the blogosphere!
Love ya J.Kaye and you know karma is such a wonderful thing...maybe an army of termites will eat the 'knockers' books!!
Valorie ~ Since this post, she has updated her Amazon page completed with blog and all. Read the header. She doesn't care.
Lenore ~ I don't care about the rights or wrongs of HK. It's not a moral ground I wish to walk on. The older I get, the less I care about stuff like that. Ya know?
Alaine - Queen of Happy Endings ~ After thinking about it for a couple of days, it's a self-esteem issue. They know they can't get positive attention, so they opt for the negative. Makes them feel powerful. You know, like taking drugs? And we all know where that kind of stuff gets ya.
Shirley ~ You have me curious as to which pic. She has changed it since Tuesday, when this post originally aired.
jezebelsk ~ LOL! I'll hook you up too!
Monique ~ I'm not letting this cow stop me from commenting and posting. I also don't go back to read responses. The person who sent me this was giving me the heads-up. It's a great blog post...let's others know what's out there.
Cheryl ~ ROTFL! Love it!
Jaime ~ Your comment caused me to go back and read the rest of the posts. She's a freak alright and enjoying the attention. I see she's added an URL. Goes with what I just said to about she can't get positive attention and this is how she gets others to take notice.
Melody ~ Nah, don't say anything. Only gives her more attention. That's why I did. And really, why bother?
Sandra Stiles ~ Wow! Thank you! That's why we are here isn't it? To pass on the love of books to others. It's the best hobby I can think of.
Yvonne ~ I'm with you 100%!
Alexia561 ~ That's exactly the question I ask, not can she read so many or is there more than one person behind HK, but why do so many people hate her. Seems so pointless. To take so much time out of your life to "enlighten" others about HK? That's time I can be reading! Got to be jealousy.
MarthaE ~ I think many do have an opinion one way or another about the HK thing and that's fine. If I were younger and cared, I would too.
Park Avenue Princess ~ OH MY GOD! That is freakin' insane! I wouldn't have taken it down though. I would have told them all to bite my big fat butt! I ain't taking my comment down and this post will stay FOREVER and EVER!
=)
Witch Baby ~ It's just as well. That negative junk my get on you like a bad germ. It's better to leave it alone.
Teddyree ~ You are a Karma believer too. :) Rock on! I am totally there with ya!
Wow - so sorry you had to deal with that, J. Kaye. I don't review on Amazon...and that is just one big reason I don't. Like you, I'd love to know who is getting paid to do reviews (stupid me, here I thought we were blogging books just because we love to read!)
I RARELY rate books less than a 3 stars...not because I am a "fake" or "getting paid" to give high ratings...but because I am pretty good at picking books I know I will love. If someone is giving crappy reviews 90% of the time they are either really bad at picking books or just love to have a hate-fest (my guess is the latter).
At any rate, know that the people who regularly read your blog love you *smiles*
I went and read the thread and I don't know if I could have handled it as calmly as you. I tend to be a little thin-skinned (and w/blogging - I need to get over that!) It made me go back and look over my ratings and I had a lot of 4's and 5's too - but I tend to put a book down if I don't like it also. I second it on the income bit - Would like to know who is getting all that moula!
J.Kaye - I'm a scrappy little witch. I really don't like broad generalities and seriously fight against them. Not that I wanted to go to "war" just let them know that while they may not enjoy HK's reviews - that every book you have reviewed/recommended that I have then checked out - has been a good read.
There's a South Park episode about getting imaginary money for stuff you do on the internet that gets a lot of views...I thought it was pretty funny.
I've been pressured to leave positive Amazon reviews by customer service representatives, mostly for electronics that didn't work as advertised but that they replaced. So I take all Amazon reviews with a grain of salt.
Wendy ~ Don't worry. If I get wind of money for book reviewing, I'll pass it on. Something tells me there isn't any...lol!
Kristi ~ I think it's because this is small compared to other things that have happened to me. So much goes on that others don't hear about. This wasn't a personal attack - not really, but a byproduct of something I did. This was not about me, but about HK. I've been personally attacked many times. After a while, it grows old or I get use to it. Every now and then, someone will hit me from left field and I will go butt-fuck crazy all over their ass. Sorry, but that is an accurate assessment of what I do...lol!
Witch Baby ~ I think people like this idiot, and yes, that's what she is, get off on war. That's why I didn't respond to her directly. Posting it here gives others a chance to see what goes on. Amazon discussions are overfilled with trolls.
Jeanne ~ I gotta ask. How do the customer service representatives pressure you to leave positive Amazon reviews?
I feel so insignificant. No one has ever done so with me. (lol)
OMG I can't even think of what to say except some people are just butt holes. (sorry but it's true)
All my reviews are pertty much like yours, becasue if I don't like it I don't finish it. So sorry I like all the books I read.
I would never attack someone online. Super cheesy and weenie!
I have other things to say but I don't want to muss up your fab blog. Don't sweat those people!
Jenny Girl ~ Don't sweat it is right. Not worth the worries. And that is something I really hope new bloggers will take away from this.
J. Kaye - I'm a little late getting in on this string, but I just want to add my support. To me, Harriet Klausner is like that guy out in the middle of the nowhere creating the world's largest ball of twine - it may not be my thing, but I'm awful glad someone is out there doing it! I think you make a good point, no one is paying her to write those reviews - and I've found some of them to be helpful myself. I'm not sure why people feel the need to be so passionately vocal against her.
booksexy, I'm with you. I don't get why people feel a need to attack other people. Even if everything is phony about the lady, so what? Small minded people who have low self-esteem feel a need to attack others in order to make themselves feel like they are somebody....pretty sad.
you know, i have more top ratings than low. probably because i read books i want to read. highlander books are considered fluff by some. i happen to like them. i have some that i like better than others. when i read someone's review of this type of book, i want the input of a fellow highlander....not that of a scifi lover. if a fellow lover loves the book, i probably will too. if that same lover gives it a 3 or lower, i will probably avoid that book. but never would i blast the scifi reader. or anyone else. we are here to review books, NOT other reviewers. grrrrr!
HODGEPODGESPV, I have learned the hard way to avoid Amazon comment section. The biggest losers troll there.
after reading a couple, i learned that there are some people out there that enjoy tearing the wings off butterflies. i can generally spot them within a sentence or two. at that point i stop reading and move on! i rely more on book bloggers than amazon.
