New Email Address & Inquiries

In 2010, I will be phasing out my old email. As I’ve mentioned before, I get tons of email. Much could be avoided if viewers would post comments verses send private e-mails. It’s hard to know what to send privately and what to post publicly. I am hoping below will help.

Reading Challenges: Soon the 2010 Reading Challenges will be listed individually in the left-hand sidebar. If you have a question about a reading challenge, leave a comment. When you do, click on the box that says: Email follow-up comments to …… Take a look at the photo below and you’ll see an example of what I am talking about.

Yes, I know you’ll need a Google account. It won’t kill you to have one. I have a WordPress account and don’t use their blog.

Your Thoughts: If you have an idea for an upcoming Your Thoughts, please send this by email. It’s hard to come up with fresh topics that are book or blogging related and I’d appreciate your help.

General Questions: I get a lot of emails about how do I do this or that. I get so many, in fact, that I’ve started a Q & A with J. Kaye. If you look in the left-hand sidebar, you’ll see a button. Click on that and read the previous questions before sending yours in.

Review Inquiries: Send in your inquiries, but please know that I will no longer accept books or anything else for review. When I get a review offer, I pass along a referral list of bloggers who are looking for books to review. Click here for the new changes.

----------

Warning: If you don’t want me to publish your email sent, then don’t send it. No longer will I accept emails that tell people the personal details of others' lives. I am also not a complaint service.

New Email: jkayesbookblog@yahoo.com

Good for you! I wouldn't put up with the emails either. Tell the you are J.Kaye, not Dear Abby.

I have a horrible picture in my mind of your e-mail account bulging with requests and complaints. Geez! Good thing you're being firm.

Sorry to hear about the email complaints! We should all just have fun with this book blogging thing, not complain and cause distress. Take care of yourself.

I can only imagine the emails you get hon. :)

All sounds great - and yes, it doesnt kill anyone to get a Google account. :)
It took me awhile to figure it out (I am so computer illiterate) but I did it! :)

Looks like some great changes underway. Good for you! Hope you get everything settled down soon. :)

I have thought of asking how you cope with all the e-mails! And that is just the RSS feeds, Book Blogs, and your own comment feeds! Not to mention people e-mailing you for personal comments or complaints.
It sounds like you are really take steps to get your own life back in order! Good for you!

LOL, it sounds like people have been mistaking you for an advice columnist!

Sounds fair to me!

So more reading next year but less reviews?

I love that you are so committed to changing your blog. I didn't know you wouldn't be accepting ANY review copies. Good for you though. I like seeing all the changes you are making.

Very well explained J. Kaye!

Krista - There are bunches of changes, are there? ;)

HODGEPODGESPV - I think the biggest irritation is when someone emails to tell on a blogger. I don't like to get in the middle of that sort of thing.

fredamans - Amen! Dear Abby got a paycheck!

StephanieD - Trust me when I tell you, the imagine in your mind is correct.

Sharon - It's really caused me to get off-track of what's important.

GFDesignz -Most days are okay, the ones that aren't stay with me for a long time.

Sheila (Bookjourney) - I got a WP account just because of all the WP bloggers. ;)

Nikki - It will be after the new year is in full swing and I am looking forward to it!

MarthaE - I take so much and then I explode all over someone. ;) Then I am right with the world again...lol.

J.T. Oldfield - Some questions I get, like how do you do this or that, but some come out of left field and I want to ask them why are they emailing me? Actually, I have asked and they said "I thought you'd know..." Makes me feel like I come off as a know-it-all. :( Very depressing.

L. Diane Wolfe - Miss my Radical Changes in 2010 post? If so, I won't be accepting books for review in 2010. I won't be posting reviews here either. More is here: http://j-kaye-book-blog.blogspot.com/2009/11/radical-changes-in-2010.html

Jenn M. - there are a couple of authors who will probably send me books in 2010 - two to be exact. I am also staying on with the Amazon Vine program. Other than that, no, I won't be accepting books or anything else for review. For 2010, I am removing the pressure to review books completely. I'll be posting more about this on Wednesday.

Alaine - Queen of Happy Endings - Thanks!

Good on you J.Kaye, all makes sense to me :-)

I did have a question/possible topic for "Your Thoughts" and tried to send by email but the email link on your sidebar links back to this post. My brain is MIA these days so apologies in advance if I'm completely missing something.

Teddyree - the new email is at the bottom of the post. Maybe I should post it at the top too. ;)

It's jkayesbookblog@yahoo.com

Teddyree said...

OMG so it is. Could it have been more obvious...sorry J.Kaye. So glad I put in the disclosure about my brain. *sheepish grin*
