Q & A with J. Kaye: Will you post about my giveaway on your blog?

Question:

My blog is having a giveaway. I wonder if you can post it on your blog to let everybody know about it.

Answer:

No, I will not post about giveaways or anything else. The reason is if I did it for one, I'd have to do it for others. My whole goal in 2010 is to post less, not more.

BookBlips: vote it up!

Lol, that would be hectic! Nevertheless, it's good to clarify. :)

You can always point them to Susan at Win a Book!

Exactly! There are many blogs out there that post others giveaways.

That would sort of defeat your goal of posting less in 2010! *L*

I'm sure they will find other blogs out there to post their contest, as there are several who do this on a weekly basis.

So people really ask you to do that? wow, I never would. So what else is going on around your house this time of year? not busy or anything are you?

Monica - Yep!
Jenn (Books At Midnight) - Oh gosh yes - too much so.

J.T. Oldfield - I've already mentioned that and Bookworming in the 21st Century's Thursday meme in a previous post listed under the Blog Articles. This post is to serve as a blunt no since I am still getting requests.

LuAnn - And there are just too many giveaways out there now.

Alexia561 - Wouldn't it though...lol.

ccqdesigns - What flips me out is not that they ask. It's who asks that bothers me. Most of these requests are from people I have never heard of. They've never left a comment and I have never been to their blog.

As far as Christmas, it's hard to explain what we do. To do so in a few sentences would make me sound stranger than I already am. ;)

ccqdesigns - I just realized that it was an assumption on my part that you were asking about the holidays. Sorry if you were. ;)

More about the whole holiday season seeming to be very busy with kids out of school (although you home school) more traffic than usual, family to visit or visiting you, more cooking than usual, etc.

Wow, I didn't know people actually ask that. The only ones I post on my site are the ones I entered and wanted an extra entry for.

ccqdesigns - Traffic is something we can't avoid. Everything else, we can. ;)

Debbie's World of Books - That and more. You'd be surprised at the some of the email. I won't be so friendly in 2010. Viewers who don't bother to read a post or whatever, I won't bother with. Most of my email will be deleted. Wasting time on people I don't really know or who don't care takes time away from ones I've come to care about.

this is silly! there are tons of people asking contest runners to let them know so they can post about contests. i even think it is presumptive to ask people entering in contest post the contest.

do i post about contests...yes but only when it is something i really want. sometimes i will post about products i can't win just because i think they are something that really appeals to me.

HODGEPODGESPV - this is just the tip of the iceberg. I've always felt uneasy about simply deleting some of my email, but I need to get more selfish. I have too many time-wasters in my life and it's time to unload them in 2010.

Wow...I can't believe people you don't even 'know' are asking you to post aboout their giveaways still.

I've posted about very few giveaways on my blog with their own posts, but most of the time if I enter a contest I will link to it on my sidebar under "giveaways on other sites". Doing so is purely for selfish reasons. It helps me keep track of what I've entered. Sometimes it takes so much extra time though...
