When J. Kaye passed this blog over to me, I felt a little like Tibby receiving the magic jeans from Lena in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants by Ann Brashares. My life, my background, even my books are different, but somehow this bloggy community still fits. Furthermore, this book blog seemed to find me at the exact moment I had—unwittingly--carved out a space for it. (Cue tinkling, magical soundtrack and gust from giant fan…). More on that later.
I am excited to follow your book trails and join with you in letting books challenge us, shape us, amuse us, pique us, heal us, wound us, silence us, and give us something to talk about. Can I get a witness? Amen.
It may take me a little while to get my bearings around here, but I am going to do my best to keep all the fun things going that made this place so great. I home school my three kids, so I will be blogging in the afternoon and evening, three or four times a week. I can’t wait to get to know you all.
Q for you: What have been your favorite things about J. Kaye’s Book Blog? What will you miss the most?

Welcome! I'm sure you'll do a great job! J.Kaye's got big shoes to fill, but you wouldn't have been picked if you weren't up to it:)
I'm sure you'll do a great job! Isn't it funny how things sometimes find us at exactly the right time?
Hey there! I think the sense of community she involved in everything was the best part of J. Kaye's blog.
I love the reading challenges.
Hi! As long as the challenges are still here, I'm good.
Welcome to this blog!
What I liked especially were the tutorial like posts that helped people learn how to do technical things!
Welcome to this new endeavor and I am sure you will do well.
My favorite thing is to find recommendations for books to read, whether old or new, in this friendly community.

Welcome to the Blog! I just stopped by your other blog and I have to say that I believe you are going to do an awesome job here!
Welcome! I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with you as well. J Kaye's blog was the first book blog I stumbled across, and although we had very different reading tastes, she introduced me to a world of book bloggers I do have more in reading common with.
Hi there! Stop being nervous, we won't bite:)
My favourite thing about J Kaye's blog was her honesty. She wasn't afraid to go out there and share her opinion. J Kaye was my first follower so I first came here to learn how things were done. J Kaye welcomed everyone with open arms and now it is our turn to give this huge welcome hug and say good luck taking over the blog. I'm looking forward to your first review. Do you have a particular area of books you read or is it anything and everything?
Welcome! Don't be nervous! Like it was mentioned already, we don't bite! You will do a lovely job filling J Kayes spot! I loved the challenges, the techniques on blogging, the HONEST reviews and her chatting! She was my first blog to follow and I will continue to follow!
I read all different kinds of books, except not erotica, fantasy, or supremely cheestastic chick lit. I do, however, like quality or slightly cheesetastic chick lit. haha I was an English/Philosophy major, so I like the hard stuff, too.
I always like those techy posts, too. Maybe I'll get a book and work through some of the techniques, and then dazzle everyone with my computery brilliance. Just kidding. I have no such brilliance, but I want to get better.
I just wanted to drop in and say Welcome! Don't be too nervous, we're all very nice people =)
I'm sure you'll do a great job!
Welcome and have fun! If you enjoy yourself, we will too. I like her YA reading challenge and, of course, book reviews.
Welcome! I am new to the blogging
community and will enjoy getting to know you.
Best of luck to you!! What an overwhelming challenge! You will do great!
Welcome and good luck! I'm a lurker on this blog, and I'm glad to see that someone has agreed to keep it going.
I'm sure you will do great! I guess this was ment to be for you since the time has already been carved otu!
I loved her book reviews and challenges best. I liked the tech posts as well.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
I know that you will do a great job. The thing I have liked the best about this blog is the fact that it links out to so many others! It is a great resource for people just getting into blogging like me. As long as this blog remains a community for book lovers to make connections I'll be happy!
Welcome! I'm a new blogger to the scene but I have been following and reading this blog for a long time. I'm sure you'll do great!
One of my favourite things was the reading challenges.
I've discovered J.Kaye's blog just few weeks ago, but I loved it immediately. Since I'm a "small" blogger, it was nice to see that J.Kaye found the time to stop by at my blog, follow and comment on my reviews. It meant a lot to me since J.Kaye is every book blogger's role-model.
Welcome and don't worry. The fact you took over is proof enough you can do it :)
Welcome! I love the reading challenges, too!
Hi There,
I'm new here, too. I just got back from teaching piano to my neighbors girls who home school and I love to do reviews for children's books. I'm doing the "support your local library challenge." I look forward to getting to know you.
Welcome Rachel! The book blogging community is a great group of people and are so supportive.
I appreciated J. Kaye's honesty and sense of community she promoted with her giveaways and challenges.
What a great question. I think for me, J Kaye just made it a place to have a conversation. Coming here was like dropping bu your favorite coffee shop.
I could pop in several times a day and catch up on comments that were like an ongoing discussion. It as fun and there was always something going on. She really helped me mold my own blogging skills.
Gah! I just proofed what I just wrote (which really, in hind sight, should have been done before I hit post...LOL)
1. dropping by... not dropping bu
2. It as fun.... it was fun
Sheesh....
anyway - welcome! :)
My favorite thing is the challenges. This is the second year I've signed up for one that J. Kaye hosted.
I also love the informative posts that she did that revolved around the book blogging world. No matter what genre you preferred, there was always something relevant that could be used. I gleaned a lot of information from those posts.
Good luck on taking over her blog! I'm sure you'll do fine. :o)
Hi! One of the best things about J. Kaye is how involved & welcome she always makes everyone feel. This blog had conversations, not just comments. I'm sure you'll do wonderfully here, as she picked you.
Wow. What a coup. LOL. You should do a great job, I'm sure she wouldn't have passed the torch to just anyone. J just had like a bloggy omnipresence. She was everyone, and was blogging about it or tweeting. It was great. ♥ Parajunkee
Its huge but I'm sure you'll do a great job. Good luck with it!
Congratulations, Rachel!
A big welcome to you...with the assistance of J.Kaye, I have all the requests for me to read/review that I can handle. She referred me and that is all it took...
I am really excited to see what new spin to bring to this wonderful book blogging community!
Welcome. I am sure you will do very well.
Welcome! My favourite thing is the sense of community that J. Kaye brought to book blogging. She always managed to pop into my blog and comment. I also love the reading challenges, especially 100+.
Well good luck, they certainly are big shoes to fill but I'm sure J. Kaye wouldn't have handed it over to you if she wasn't confident in you doing as good a job as she did!
Welcome! Hope you have the coffee on (LOL), since Sheila mentioned it already and to me it's the same...a place to drop in for conversations and to learn more about books, blogging, etc.
J Kaye seemed to seek out new bloggers and make them feel welcome. She did that for me - in fact she found me even before my blog was up and running. But this is your blog now and I'm excited to see what you will do with it. Congratulations kiddo - remember most of all have fun with it - that's what it's all about after all : D
I first checked out your other blog to see who would be taking over the reins and I loved what I read. It looks like we are in for a lot of fun with you! So, welcome, welcome, welcome. You're going to be awesome, I just know it.
Thanks so much, everybody. What great info! Thanks for taking the time. I can't wait to check out your blogs. Lots to learn. :)
Welcome! *smiling*
she was supportive of writers and books - !
Hi Homegirl and welcome!!! Can't wait to see what you do with the blog. I'm sure you will do wonderfully. :)
Hello Rachel and Welcome! Thanks for picking up here so J.Kaye can focus on her writing dream!
I am glad that you were at the right stage to step in/up and take over.
I will miss J.Kaye's own somewhat manic personality! She and I did not necessarily have the same reading tastes although we read a couple of books together for "tweet alongs." In addition to providing interesting reviews and wonderful contests, she has always done such a great job of responding to comments with her own frankness and flair.
I have peeked at a few of your posts but came back here to start at the beginning with a welcome. It looks like you will do well providing interesting posts and reviews and your own "presence."
I enjoy the sense of community here among book bloggers of all different genres.
Best wishes to you.
I appreciate your comments very much and want to thank you.
