Just Another Manic Monday

Sorry for being incommunicado this week. My family and I took in several Passover/Holy Week services and activities, and we celebrated our oldest daughter's ninth birthday. I always realize how tightly I sandwich myself in schedule-wise when I add in one more thing and suddenly, I'm dropping my blogging, reading, running, and writing like a panicked juggler.

The week was memorable and sweet, however. Most of my reading was religious in nature, but I did finish a Marian Keyes novel which I sucked down like a piece of chocolate cake. Also, I worked through a book about the "tween years" with my nine-year-old daughter, and read Beverly Cleary's The Mouse and the Motorcycle to my Irish twins. (This is the month of the year when we have two children the same age--who aren't twins and are not adopted. That is to say, I gave birth twice in a twelve month period. This year, we have two six year olds. IknowIknowIknow. I've heard all the jokes).

Bookish highlight of the week? I bought Tracy Chevalier's new novel Remarkable Creatures. Paid top dollar for it, too. Hardback. I was wondering when she was going to crank out another one. I'm going to review it for Vloggy Friday this week, which I am not going to forget about (I say, with a watery smile). I'll post my review for Last Chance Saloon by Marian Keyes on Wednesday. In addition to Tracy's new one, I'll be continuing to work through Zinsser's Writing to Learn.

Sheila is hosting the April 12x12 Challenge, so go check her out. (I'm sure you already do on a regular basis. That girl's blog is hoppin').

How was your Easter/Passover/Spring break? Here's a picture of my son washing his hands at his first Passover seder.

I remember The Mouse and the Motorcycle! I hadn't thought of it in years, but it was one of my favorites in elementary school. That just made my morning! :-)

Welcome back! I peeked in throughout the week and seen you were not here.... sounds like a busy but amazing week! :)

We had a quiet Easter weekend. Not a lot of family but I like quiet so that's ok. Our 19 year old was home from College and we all did Church together and my son and I rollerbladed 10 miles yesterday.

Love the picture! What an incredible memory!

Have a great week :)

We had a lovely Easter at our house, including Palm Sunday the week before, when the children walked around the church waving palm fronds. How fun for you to get to read kids' books to your family.

I received Remarkable Creatures in the mail recently and I can't wait to crack it open. I haven't had much luck with Chevalier's stuff since Girl with a Pearl Earring, but I feel sure this one will be the magical book to bring me back to Chevalier. I hope!

What a great picture of your son! :)

You and I sound very similar- I have everything scheduled out (homeschooling, cooking, cleaning, errands, reading, writing, etc. etc. etc.), and trying to throw anything else in there makes me slightly crazy, sometimes more than slightly. I had a full-blown meltdown this past December- trying to add in the crafting of Christmas presents for a bunch of different people was just. not. working. My husband came home from work one day to find me at the kitchen table, swearing at the sewing machine and sobbing. LOL

Life is full and busy, and I could DEFINITELY use more sleep, but better full than empty, right? :D

Our Easter was quiet and lovely. We have no family down here, so we went on a hike on the nature trails at a nearby lake, and I made a nice dinner afterwards. My legs still ache from that hike! :)

Spent it working on the mess in my house. Had the family over for dinner after church on Sunday.

Here's my April reading list. No reviews, but 53 books so far, so who has time?

Happy Spring, everyone!
